Grocery and Buying Tips
Tips on grocery shopping & other money saving ideas!

With all the craziness of work and home life and all of the various doctor and therapy appointments for our youngest, Ethan, I decided it was time for me to purchase another planner. I use a calendar at home and at work, but it is becoming harder and harder to stay organized and I am beginning to overbook myself. A few years ago I purchased a family planner that I really loved. I went to Wal-mart today to try and purchase another one from the same author and couldn't find the one I was looking for. So, I jumped on-line to see if I could find it. The family organizer is from Amy Knapp and she has several different options to choose from. Best of all, the Christian version is on sale for $5! (Others on sale as well.) I did have to pay shipping, but my total with shipping was $12.95, which was still less than any of the decent planners I found today...none of which was what I actually wanted.
Amy Knapp’s Family Organizer is mommy tested and approved. The easy to use format helps even the busiest of families gain control of their active lifestyle and includes:

Weekly and Monthly calendar grids
Weekly Grocery Lists – perforated to tear out and go!
Weekly Menu Planning saves time and money.
Weekly to do lists and inspirational quotes.
Color Coded Stickers
I cannot emphasize enough how much I love Amy's planners, they are so great. Check them out at her website here!

How often do you use Google to perform topic searches? Several times per day? I use Google daily to search on all sorts of topics or for phone numbers or directions, etc. I was recently introduced to a search site called Swagbucks. Instead of going to Google to do a search, go to Swagbucks. You will randomly receive "swagbucks" for web searches that can be redeemed at the SwagStore for cool stuff. Swagbucks uses both Google and Ask to search, so you will receive better search results than just searching one or the other. The rewarding of swagbucks is random - so you will not receive one with every search, but for some searches you will receive more than one. Yesterday, I received 2 swagbucks for a search. The more searches you do the greater chances you have of getting more swagbucks.

Just a few examples of what your swagbucks can buy:

$10.00 Barnes and Noble Gift Card - 115 Swagbucks
$20.00 Target Gift Card - 220 Swagbucks
$25.00 Macy's Gift Card - 320 Swagbucks

There are lots of other great things to buy at the Swagbucks store, too. Anything from video games to dvds and even an Apple iPhone if you're up to the challenge. Check it out...it's free!

Why not get rewarded what you are doing already? Register for Swagbucks here.

Christopher & Banks and CJ Banks currently have a coupon code for $10 off ANY purchase. The code is 81155. This expires November 24th.

In addition, if you go to their Sale tab, you can find many of their clothing items marked down to $9.97 or less. Click on the $10.01 and up tab ( yes, not $10 or less ), though, because their items currently have an extra discount on them right now that brings a lot of items to that $9.97 price.

THEN, when you enter the code above at checkout, it reduces your price to $0!!

I just got a very nice shirt, regularly, $19.97 for $0. I will be using it as a Christmas gift. Do note, though, that you have to pay shipping. Mine came to $5.95.

BUT...don't forget about Ebates. Right now, they are offering a Bonus of 4% back at both sites AND a $5 Bonus if you are a new member. So, potentially, you could get an item for less than $1 after the Ebates Bonus and 4% back.

If you are already a member, it is still a good deal with the 4% back. You can pay around $5 for a $20 or more item.

Sign up for Ebates here and order Christopher & Banks or CJ Banks.

Lots of cute clothes..I had fun picking my item out!

Here is a great offer for you if you are not currently a US Bank customer.

My local Albertsons has a US Bank location inside and yesterday just simply by opening an account, I earned some free grocery money.

Here's how:

1) Open a US Bank account and provide an opening deposit.

2) Once you receive your US Bank debit card, use it to buy $75.00 in groceries. You do not need to spend the $75.00 in one transaction, multiple transactions are fine--just keep all receipts.

3) Take all receipts totalling $75.00 (or more) back to the US Bank location inside Albertsons and they will refund the $75.00 to your account. Yeah, free groceries! Check with your local Albertson's store to see if they are offering this same great deal.

FYI: Make sure your opening deposit will cover all your groceries. If your opening deposit is only $75.00 you cannot go over the $75.00 when using your debit card. As with all banks, you do not want to overdraw your account. I opened mine with $100 to ensure I would have sufficient funds for my purchases. Then, when my account is credited the $75.00 I can choose to either keep my account open or close my account and pocket the $75.00. Either way, $75.00 is $75.00.
